About Isolibris
Isolibris is an independent buying-guide site about portable SSDs and external hard drives. We help you pick a drive for your backups, your photos and the files you can't afford to lose.
Our readers are mostly people with a home computer, a laptop or a phone full of pictures. You don't need to know what USB 3.2 Gen 2 means to use our guides.
What we cover
We cover pocket-size SSDs, portable hard drives and bigger desktop drives from brands like Samsung, SanDisk, Seagate, WD, LaCie, Lexar and Toshiba. We also write plain how-tos on backing up a Windows PC or a phone, and on caring for a drive so it lasts.
When two drives look alike, we put them side by side. That way you can see which trade-offs matter for the way you'll use it.
How we work
We read the specs, the maker's details and the warranty terms for every drive we cover. We also look at what owners often report after months of use, like drives that stop showing up or run hot.
Then we turn that into short guides and clear picks. Our How we research page explains each step.
What we don't do
We don't make, sell or repair drives. No brand pays us to rank its products, and we aren't affiliated with any drive maker.
We don't claim to have tested every drive ourselves. When we pick one, we tell you why, based on its specs, features and owner feedback.
We can't recover lost files for you. If a drive holds files you can't replace, a data recovery service is the right call.
How we earn money
Some links on this site go to stores like Amazon. If you buy through one, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you.
That never changes which drives we pick. Our affiliate disclosure has the details.
